Did you know?!Facts and trivia about No Retreat, No Surrender 2: Raging Thunder (1987)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- No Retreat, No Surrender 2 was meant to be a direct sequel, but safety concerns about filming in Cambodian jungles persuaded Jean-Claude Van Damme to back out of the project, and he convinced Kurt McKinney to do the same.
- Kurt McKinney added that scheduling conflicts with Cynthia Rothrock and weather complications in Cambodia delayed production constantly, prompting his casting agents to secure his role on General Hospital instead.
- The story and characters had to be changed: McKinney's Jason Stillwell, a Jeet Kune Do expert taught by the ghost of Bruce Lee, became Scott Wylde, a Tae Kwon Do expert played by Loren Avedon.
- Matthias Hues had no prior martial arts training, so producer Roy Horan had him train with his martial arts teacher, co-star Hwang Jang-lee, to prepare for the film.
- The American version cut the opening firing squad scene, trimmed dialogue between Terry and Scott at the Muay Thai gym, cut Scott's interrogation, and omitted the scenes with Sulin's father and the pimp.
