Plot summary
Laura Collins is pleased when her sixteen-year-old daughter Sarah begins dating Rob Tennison, an eighteen-year-old student at Sarah's school. Rob is popular there, and Laura, who has had a string of rocky relationships, is happy for her daughter. Rob soon turns possessive. He throws Sarah's phone during an argument, complains that she pays more attention to her best friend Nikki Farrow than to him, and tells her she needs to lose weight when a dress he buys does not fit. Sarah confides in Laura, who answers that Rob is only afraid of losing her. Bruises appear on Sarah's shoulder, and her friend Alexa helps her hide them with makeup.
