Plot summary
Colin Evans is serving a sentence in Tennessee for manslaughter when a parole board denies his release. He escapes and makes his way to Atlanta, where he watches his former fiancée, Alexis, with another man. After a crash during a storm, he walks to a nearby house and knocks on the door of Terri Granger, a stay-at-home mother whose husband, Jeffrey, has just left for a family visit. Terri is wary of the stranger but offers her phone for a tow truck, then invites him in. Her friend Meg, who suggested a night out to cheer her up, arrives and is unsettled to find him there.
