Plot summary
Sixteen-year-old Mark Berman lives with his Russian-Jewish family north of Toronto. Over one summer, his uncle Fima arranges to marry a woman in Moscow, and she comes to Canada with her daughter Natasha, who is fourteen. Mark's parents put him in charge of the girl. He learns that her life in Moscow had been troubled. Mark and Natasha begin a secret romance.
