Plot summary
Cole Reed, a former police officer and commando, works in Bangkok as a bodyguard for Tibu Campallo, the billionaire head of the cargo shipping company KMG. After a game of chess at Tibu's home, the two are ambushed while driving. Reed fights off the attackers, but Tibu dies and asks him to look after his son, Kameron, and the blame for the killing falls on Reed himself. From his friend Taran, Reed learns that Tibu's assassins are due to board the KMG cargo ship Artemis, so he takes the identity of a dead assassin and slips aboard as a stowaway. On the ship he meets Angie Ellis, a KMG employee called out to replace the man whose name Reed is now using.
