Plot summary
Luciana is an illegal immigrant in New York City, living in hiding over something in her past in Barcelona. Without papers she takes menial cash work, babysitting and holding a sign outside a fast food restaurant. At that job she meets Olga, a Russian emigre who lives well despite being undocumented herself. After a run of setbacks, Olga asks her to fill in at a second job. Olga does not describe the work, giving an address and the instruction to come in evening wear. Luciana cannot afford the outfit.
