Plot summary
The CIA wants footage of a moonwalk in case the Apollo 11 astronauts fail, so agent Tom Kidman is sent to England with a briefcase of cash to hire Stanley Kubrick. The landing is treated as a win over the Soviet Union, and Kidman is told to kill the director once the job is done. Kidman, a Vietnam veteran, answers frustration with extreme violence. The man he meets is not Kubrick's agent but the agent's cousin, Jonny Thorpe, a band promoter who owes money to an East End gangster known as the Iron Monger. Thorpe says he can arrange a meeting with Kubrick and talks his roommate Leon into posing as the director.
