Plot summary
Monica is a trans woman. She and her mother, Eugenia, have been estranged for years, since Eugenia disowned her because of her sexuality. A telephone call from Monica's sister-in-law brings word that Eugenia is seriously ill, and Monica decides to return to the family home to help look after her mother. When she arrives, Eugenia does not recognize her, because the two have not seen each other since Monica transitioned and a brain tumor is impairing Eugenia's cognitive functions. Rather than reveal who she is, Monica keeps her identity to herself and stays in the house to help.
