Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The film is based on a real event: brothers Mike and Dave Stangle posted a humorous Craigslist ad looking for wedding dates. A friend, Jay Barbeau, who worked at the Creative Artists Agency, helped them sign both a film and a book deal after the ad became popular.
- Adam DeVine was initially insecure about starring alongside Zac Efron because of the difference in their physiques, saying he worked so hard to get into great shape because he was going to have to stand next to him. He suspected Efron, preparing for the role, did not work out at his normal capacity to "meet me in the middle".
