Plot summary
In the autumn of 2015, the photograph of a child who drowned in the Mediterranean moves Òscar Camps, a lifeguard, and he travels with his colleague Gerard to Lesbos. On the Greek island they meet Esther and Nico. What they find there is a mass crossing: thousands of people fleeing armed conflicts put out to sea in flimsy boats, and nobody takes charge of rescuing them. The group decides to act and assembles its own rescue team, with Òscar, Gerard, Esther and Nico among its members. The initiative they begin on the island is the start of the rescue vessel Open Arms.
