Plot summary

Freely based on the life of the Spanish anarchist Lucio Urtubia, the story spans the 1940s to the 1980s and is set mainly in France. Lucio works as a bricklayer in Paris and is part of the European anarchist movement; he robs banks, then turns to counterfeiting, producing forged traveler's checks to fund the causes he believes in. The checks are aimed at City Bank, one of America's largest banks, and the operation grows into one of the most important economic frauds of the last century, putting him in the bank's crosshairs. Lucio has to weigh the anarchist cause against protecting his own.
