Plot summary
Lydia Thorne is a wealthy young woman who chases thrills and rarely counts the cost of her behavior to other people. Her maid Evans, in dire straits over her son's health, goes to prison for stealing her jewels, and Lydia spares her no sympathy. District Attorney Daniel O'Bannon comes to the house to show her the error of her behavior, and instead walks in on a gathering of Lydia and her friends that strikes him as a Roman orgy. He decides jail would be good for her, and when her automobile strikes a motorcycle policeman during a high-speed chase, he prosecutes her. Lydia is resentful.
