Dale Fuller

Biography

Dale Fuller was a silent-era American actress who worked in over 60 films from 1915 to 1935. Born in Santa Ana, California, in 1885, she began on stage in 1908 in the comedy The Trouper, then toured with the musical revue The Flirting Princess and sang in the chorus of Florenz Ziegfeld's The Girl in the Kimona. In 1915 she joined Mack Sennett's Keystone as an extra, often playing harridans or victims, and sometimes old men and boy roles. Erich von Stroheim discovered her and gave her the maid's role in Foolish Wives (1922), a small part that critics praised as the film's best. She went on to appear in Manslaughter (1922), von Stroheim's Greed (1924), The Merry Widow (1926), and The Wedding March (1928). She ended her screen career with A Tale of Two Cities. She died in 1948.

In 1915, Charlie Murray introduced Dale Fuller to Mack Sennett, and she became an extra at his Keystone studio, where Sennett frequently gave her parts as a harridan or a victim in short films.
Beyond film
In 1910, Fuller performed in Chicago as a chorus member of Florenz Ziegfeld's The Girl in the Kimona. Variety singled her out for praise, and her performance earned good reviews.
