Plot summary
Abbey Bell is raising her teenage son Jacob on her own, and she has come to believe he is a psychopath. She watches him collect unsettling drawings, play violent video games and manipulate the people around him, and she fears he is planning an attack on his school. When the mental healthcare system offers her no help, she begins filming him in secret and recording her own video diary. Her love for her son and her instinct about what he might do pull her in opposite directions, and she asks whether she is a paranoid, overprotective mother or whether Jacob is genuinely dangerous. She shares the videos with other mothers of monsters she finds online.
