Plot summary
The bandit Harimao once hid a treasure, and three lost statues lead back to it. Lupin and his companions set out to collect them. A group called Neo-Himmel, a Nazi-like outfit, wants the same prize and races them for it. Lupin reluctantly partners with Sir Archer, an aging MI-6 agent, and Archer's granddaughter Diana, so that their side can gather the statues first.

- At a dinner after the special was finished, producer Toshio Nakatani brought two bags of viewer postcards and said audiences wanted something like Castle of Cagliostro; script supervisor Jun'ichi Iioka retorted that the TV specials were valued as 'anti-Cagliostro' and would be called imitations. After the quarrel Iioka stayed away from the specials until 1$ Money Wars four years later.
- Kanichi Kurita formally became the second voice of Lupin III with this special, taking over from Yasuo Yamada, who had died that March. NTV said praise for Kurita's film performances and viewers' requests for him to continue in the TV specials decided the choice.
- This was the last Lupin work produced under the Tokyo Movie Shinsha name, which had been used for nearly 20 years since the second TV series; the company merged into Kyokuichi three months after the broadcast.
- Shōji Yonemura and Shinzō Fujita, who would go on to write many of the later TV specials, made their first Lupin contribution here because Hiroshi Kashiwabara, who was offered the script, wanted to co-write it with students from the seminar he ran.
- One of the rare Lupin TV specials with no scene of Lupin using his Walther P38, this entry also has more hand-to-hand fighting than usual.
