Plot summary
Amy Myer has built her life around the timeline her mother drew before she died, and she works as a lawyer in Seattle as it instructs. The timeline predicts that she will marry her seventh boyfriend. She ends things with her fifth boyfriend and settles on Daniel McCandles, a businessman she believes belongs in that seventh place. A sixth boyfriend has to come in between, and she finds one in Peter Connor, who runs a bagel shop and is in love with her. When Peter asks her to a wedding on Orcas Island, Amy first refuses, then agrees, planning to move on to Daniel afterward.
