Love in Tokyo (2015) on Netflix

Plot summary

An American in his thirties, Tom has come to Tokyo for a job he treats as temporary. He does not speak Japanese, and the isolation he feels drives him to the internet, where his relationships play out and he presents an improved version of himself. Then Saki enters his life. A Japanese woman, she shows him around Tokyo and brings him into contact that happens in person rather than through a screen. She urges him to stay in the present and to speak instead of typing. Tom must decide whether he can relate to her directly, or whether the life he has invented online will hold him.
