Plot summary
Lou lives alone with her dog Jax on a remote Washington island, next door to Hannah and her young daughter Vee. With a storm predicted, Hannah's friend Chris drives off to buy supplies and picks up a hitchhiker on the road. The hitchhiker shuts off the power at Hannah's house, and when she goes outside to fix it he grabs Vee and runs off on foot. Hannah rushes to Lou's house for help, but a bomb blows up Lou's truck before they can go anywhere. The two women set out after him in the dark, and Hannah says the man is Vee's father Philip, a former Green Beret she had believed dead.
