Plot summary
On the truck stop lots around Memphis, Angie and three other women sell sex to men and hustle the ones who are easy to fool. Angie holds the lowest place among them, and Slim Ice, the pimp they answer to, beats and sexually abuses her. When a fight between the two of them ends with her killing him in self-defense, she becomes the one in charge instead of the one at the bottom. With him gone, the women answer to no one, and she teaches the other women to go after what they want, by whatever means it takes.
