Plot summary
Portuguese immigrants Bela and Jota live with their three children on the outskirts of London, where the family has little money. Their daughter Lu is deaf. When a misunderstanding happens at Lu's school, British social services start to worry about the safety of the children and take them from their parents. To keep the family together, Bela and Jota fight the law.
