Plot summary
Melissa Cates is a teenager when she becomes pregnant, and she prepares for an abortion. At the last minute she tells the doctor that she cannot do this, and she decides to have the baby and arrange an adoption plan. The Colton family, who live in Louisiana, adopt the boy, and David grows up in their home. Eighteen years afterward Melissa, the wife of Shawn Cates, gets in touch with the adoption agency about the son she has held only once. David learns that his birth mother wants to meet him, and the two start talking on social media. David's biological father is Brian.
