Plot summary
Darly Peters works as a waitress, and years earlier she performed as a stripper under the name Pillow Talk. She is driving north to Alaska, where a house is being built for her, and where she means to rejoin the family she walked away from eighteen years before. At a stop on the road she meets Marianne Johnson, a quiet young woman who has just left an abusive husband, and Darly lets her come along. The two cross the country together, meeting strangers along the way: a waitress who talks strangely and goes by 66, and Walt, a man who places Darly as Pillow Talk and offers her money for sex.
