Plot summary
A drunken fall leaves Louise, twenty-eight and lately single in Brooklyn, with a broken hip, and she lands in physical therapy among patients twice her age. She is a musician of sorts, and she is depressed without admitting it. In the ward she meets Antonina, a cranky older Polish woman who speaks no English, and Louise takes a job as her caretaker. Neither of them likes the arrangement.
