Plot summary
It is 1995 in Manhattan. Ali is in high school and would rather go to raves and get high than fill out college applications. Her older sister Dana is engaged to Ben, and their relationship has settled into a rut. Their parents, Pat and Alan, have a marriage in which Pat keeps her distance no matter how Alan tries. One night, home from a rave and sitting down to her homework, Ali opens a computer file and finds love notes her father wrote to a woman identified only as C. Around that same time, Dana runs into Nate, an ex-boyfriend, at a party she attends with Ben.
