Chrissie and Cece are living on the streets of New York City with no home to go back to, so the pair of them work a con on strangers to get a roof over their heads. Together they keep talking about the apartment they want to live in one day. Then Chrissie meets David, a man she finds funny and genuine, and she falls for him. He knows only the story she has told him about her life. As the two grow closer, Chrissie has to decide whether to tell him the truth about her circumstances or keep the lie going.
