Plot summary
A young woman on a country road is circled by motorcyclists while a well-dressed man in a trench coat watches. The girl is Valeria Sanna, whose school days in the nuns' care are filled with such visions, a young doctor among them, and a bishop and nuns who lash her with a whip. At her graduation ceremony a bishop speaks on family values, and Valeria then goes to the villa of her wealthy father, Massimo Sanna. There she meets Spartaco, a beachcomber artist, her brother, a pair of priests and the local characters, whose intrigues are largely sexual. Valeria stays quiet, watching far more than she takes part in.
