Plot summary
Anna has fed on blood for centuries, drifting through a hedonistic existence. One night she meets Robbie, a reckless party boy out for a drink while she is hunting. Intrigued that he does not care whether he lives or dies, she takes him home and decides to keep him alive until he gets sober. Watching him work at his recovery pushes Anna to quit blood herself and to want her humanity back, putting her at odds with the vampire clan she lives among. Quitting brings withdrawal that could kill her, and the clan has no patience for the choice she is making.
