Plot summary

Keshavan, called Keshu, is a driving instructor and the eldest of his siblings. Since his father died he has worked without rest for the family, and he blames his late father for his hardships. His mother rejects that and asks him to immerse his father's ashes at Rameswaram, so the whole household plans the journey, his brothers-in-law Rajendran, Gopi and Vijayan Pillai among them. His daughter Usha arranges a tourist bus through her boyfriend Vivek. On the route Keshu learns that a lottery ticket he bought from a dealer on compulsion has won twelve crore rupees, and he plans to leave with his wife Rathnamma and their children alone, without telling the relatives.
