Plot summary
Doctor Mochizuki, a geneticist, uses his laboratory assistant Masaru Aso in an experiment tied to the creation of the Neo-Lifeform, and Masaru gains the power to change into the grasshopper-like Kamen Rider ZO. Alarmed by what he has become, Masaru retreats into the mountains, where he lies in a coma for two years. A telepathic call wakes him with an urge to protect Hiroshi Mochizuki, the doctor's son. When Doras threatens the boy, Masaru saves him as ZO. Doras regenerates and sends out two creatures to hunt Hiroshi, who runs to the home of his inventor grandfather, Seikichi. Masaru finds him at Reiko's karate dojo and says he is the boy's bodyguard. Hiroshi is afraid of ZO.
