Plot summary
Kaduvakunnel Kurian Koruthu, known as Kuriyachan, is a wealthy and arrogant planter in late 1990s Pala, where he lives with his wife Elsa and their children Tessa, Eva and Chacko. Joseph Chandy, an inspector general, has a son, and Kuriyachan speaks badly of the boy, which turns Joseph against him. Joseph's mother Theruthi Chedathi says that a piano meant for the church went to Fr. Robin Poovampara instead, and Kuriyachan insults Joseph's late father. Joseph and his mother swear vengeance. Joseph then transfers every police officer in Pala and brings in SI Dominic, whose father Benjamin Kuriyachan had thrashed, along with new men. He buys land that Kuriyachan had sold to an American family, closes his bar and gets a search warrant issued on his house.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Kaduva (2022)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Filming of Kaduva outlasted three COVID-19 waves in India; at Mundakkayam a government restriction limited the crew to 50 people, and flood and landslide damaged a set built there. Star Prithviraj Sukumaran and director Shaji Kailas both tested positive for COVID-19.
- Writer Jinu V. Abraham sued the makers of an announced Suresh Gopi film, to be directed by Mathews Thomas and produced by Tomichan Mulakuppadam, because it used the same character name, Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan, as his registered screenplay. The Ernakulam District Court stayed that film's production and promotion.
- A Mohanlal cameo in Kaduva was planned after rumours that he was in the cast, but director Shaji Kailas confirmed that it did not work out.
- For the role of IG Joseph Chandy, the team considered Biju Menon but ruled him out because he and Prithviraj Sukumaran had done similar roles in Ayyappanum Koshiyum; Vivek Oberoi was chosen by majority opinion.
- Prithviraj Sukumaran's protagonist was seen making inappropriate comments against disabled persons and their parents, and the dialogue was eventually removed from the film.
- Because Kaduva is set in the 1990s, the filmmakers wanted the old District Court, Kottayam, recreated, and it was built as a set on four to five acres of land at Ernakulam.
