Plot summary
Tom Leezak and Sarah McNerney meet on a beach when a football he throws hits her. Months later, over the objections of Sarah's wealthy family, they marry. Tom has little money, and they fly to Europe for a honeymoon he cannot afford. On the flight, an attempt at joining the mile high club fails publicly. At a hotel at the foot of the Alps, a bottle of cognac arrives from Peter Prentiss, a childhood friend of Sarah's. Tom burns out the village's electricity with a plug, argues with the hotel owner, and they leave; their car ends up in a snowbank until daylight. In Venice, the pensione Tom's father recommended proves a wreck, and Sarah's father pays for a grander hotel.
