Plot summary
Stewart Kane lives in the Australian town of Jindabyne, where he works at a gas station with Carl, Rocco and Billy, and fishing is his great passion. He arranges a weekend trip to a remote river in the high country, and the four men hike in on Friday and set up camp. Out on the water, Stewart comes upon the naked body of a young Aboriginal woman. He fastens her leg to a tree, and the men keep fishing for the rest of the weekend. In town, his wife Claire meets with Jude, Carl's wife, and Rocco's girlfriend Carmel while the men are gone. The men return late on Sunday night and tell the police what they found.
