Plot summary
In 1968, pastor Chuck Smith watches Calvary Chapel, his Southern California church, slowly die, and he cannot connect with the hippie generation. His daughter Janette gives a ride to a hitchhiker, Lonnie Frisbee, who says he travels around telling people about the ministry of Jesus. Smith is suspicious at first, then welcomes him to his church and his home, and more hippies arrive at the Smith house. Greg Laurie, a high-school student, leaves a military training class and goes with Cathe and her friends to a Janis Joplin concert, where they introduce him to drugs.
