Plot summary
In the Duchy of Cornwall, the sorcerer Pendragon once ruled over giants, witches and hobgoblins until the wizard Herla defeated him and exiled him to an uncharted island. After Herla dies, nothing holds Pendragon back. On the day Cornwall crowns Princess Elaine, King Mark's daughter, Pendragon comes to the castle and gives her a music box. That night the tiny jester inside grows into a giant, Cormoran, who seizes Elaine and carries her to Pendragon's ship. Jack, a young farmer, rescues her and slays Cormoran. King Mark makes Jack a knight and names him Elaine's protector, and when the king fears what Pendragon will do next, he orders Jack to guide the princess to a convent over the sea.

Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Columbia Pictures, which released The 7th Voyage of Sinbad, threatened to sue producer Edward Small, who re-edited and re-released the film as a musical; the original music-free print appeared 30 years later, and United Artists owns the musical version.
- Producer Edward Small rehired star Kerwin Mathews, director Nathan Juran and villain Torin Thatcher from The 7th Voyage of Sinbad to repeat that hit, but Juran said Small could not get the same special effects.
- Juran split the effects between two companies: the Howard A. Anderson Company handled the photographic effects, while Project Unlimited, just off an Oscar for The Time Machine, did the stop-motion with animator Jim Danforth in one of his earliest jobs.
