Plot summary
Flea circus proprietor Fred F. Trumble Floogle is named heir to a wealthy relative's estate, and he moves wife Eve, son Homer and daughter Marion into a costly hotel penthouse, the same building where Marion's fiancé, Perry Parker, lives. The family buys on credit until Trumble's lawyer, Jefferson T. Pike, and Trumble's associates Arnold and Gardner report at the reading of the will that the estate comes down to five chairs. Facing debts, Eve urges Fred to mend fences with Parker, whose father once hinted the Floogles were too lowbrow. Perry presents his latest invention, a better mousetrap, and talks Fred into co-investing $25,000 in its development. Then Trumble's chairs arrive, and Homer offers to sell them to an antique dealer.
