Plot summary
Yvonne Valbret is a kept woman in Paris who poses as an artist's model. Painters and sculptors have made her their subject, among them Jouvet and the sculptor Henry Coutant, and Galand, who wrote a book of love. At a party of bohemians and artists she tires of the pretentious guests, including Coutant, who tries to revive their romance and gets nowhere. She meets André Montell, a student at the Consular Service, and suggests they leave together. She says nothing of Vignaud, the husband she does not love.
