Plot summary
Adib Abdel-Kareem served as an officer in Syria's military intelligence before he was labeled a traitor and fled the country. He has spent twenty years in Toronto with his wife and two daughters, working a steady job and believing his past is behind him. Then he learns that Muna, his eldest daughter, has gone missing in Damascus. She had been on assignment in Greece and took a detour into Syria, where corrupt government agents hold her on an accusation of espionage. Adib goes back to find her, aided by Fatima, the fiancée he left behind, and Paul, a Canadian diplomat, while the secret police and his former colleagues watch him.

- Inescapable was shot on a budget of about $5 million with a 25-day schedule, so the actors did their own stunts and each action scene was filmed in one take because the production could not afford to demolish anything more than once.
- Ruba Nadda had hoped to film Inescapable in Jordan, but after visiting the Middle East she found her script would still be heavily censored and her own safety would be in danger.
- Marisa Tomei says Ruba Nadda cut many of her scenes as Fatima, among them passionate kisses, Adib telling Fatima he never stopped loving her, and Fatima rending her clothing in despair.
