Plot summary
Chris Wilton, an Irish former high ranked tennis professional, has retired and struggles financially. He takes a job at an upscale London tennis club, where he befriends Tom Hewett, a wealthy member. Tom's sister Chloe is immediately attracted to Chris, and the two begin dating. Alec Hewett, Chloe's businessman father, gives Chris a junior position at his company, and Chris settles into the family's comfortable life. At the Hewetts' country house he meets Nola Rice, an American actress and Tom's fiancée, and the two are drawn to each other. Eleanor Hewett, the mother of Tom and Chloe, does not accept Nola. Chris keeps Nola in his thoughts while he dates Chloe.
