Plot summary
Charles 'Butcher' Benton is executed at the state prison for an armored car robbery, and he dies without telling anyone where the stolen money is hidden. He blames 'Squeamy' Ellis, Joe Marcelli and his attorney Paul Lowe, the men who double-crossed him. Detective Dick Chasen keeps trying to recover the loot. Benton's body is sold to Professor Bradshaw, who experiments on damaged human tissue with chemical injections and heavy electric shocks. The current restarts Benton's heart: he comes back mute, immensely strong and nearly impossible to injure. He walks out of the laboratory and goes after the men he holds responsible, while the police try to find out what has been let loose on the city.
