Plot summary
On Flores, Indonesia, in 1977, two colleagues of the American scientist Dr. Timothy Darrow are killed and eaten in the jungle, and a court convicts him of the crimes. The press calls him the American Cannibal. His defense is his account of a mythic human-ape creature that he says was responsible. A news outlet documents an indigenous tribe on Flores, the island where the hobbit remains were found, and the tribe's accounts describe little wild men just over three feet tall, tree climbers who walked on two feet and ate human flesh. Local legend holds that these creatures may never have died out. An expedition team goes deep into Flores Island to test Darrow's claims.
