Plot summary
In 1988 Philadelphia, officer Thomas "Locke" Lockhart works a string of killings in which the victims' brains hemorrhage through their faces, each body bearing the same puncture wound. With his partner Maddox and Detective Holt, he ties the deaths to a woman with an injured hand, and a chase through the subway follows. She talks to him about his own life as though she knows it, and the case is closed. Nine years later, in 1997, the killings begin again. Lockhart, now a detective raising his daughter Amy, finds nothing connecting the victims, and the wounds on their bodies match the old murders.
