Plot summary
At 23, Elliot Bell has no job and shares an apartment with his best friend Apple. Erika Tracy, a famous contemporary artist, takes him on as a studio assistant. There he meets Zap, another assistant, and together they help make her sexually explicit work. Elliot's girlfriend, Minerva, a graduate student, has no interest in sex, and he begins to fantasize about Erika. After his first week, Erika calls him into her office and starts a sexual relationship with him, ordering him to crawl toward her as a sign of submission.

- The screenplay for I Want Your Sex originally centered on a young woman and her older male boss; years later, director Gregg Araki and co-writer Karley Sciortino reversed the genders, turning it into the relationship between the older Erika and the younger Elliot seen in the finished film.
- Gregg Araki was initially unsure about casting Cooper Hoffman as Elliot because he associated the actor with his younger role in Licorice Pizza, but changed his mind after Hoffman flew from New York to Los Angeles for a chemistry read with Olivia Wilde.
- The entire film was shot in Los Angeles over less than a month, with principal photography beginning on October 2, 2024 and wrapping just 25 days later, on October 27.
