Plot summary
A man is brutally murdered in a London apartment building, and D.C.I. Bernie Reid takes the case. Reid is an insomniac, and he is in the middle of a divorce. An encounter with Anna, an enigmatic figure, complicates his concentration on the case. He finds her at a party, where she insists the two of them have never met. Even so, Anna and Reid are drawn to each other. As Reid becomes more attached to Anna, his professional ethics come into question. The noir thriller follows the case from Anna's point of view, and she is a femme fatale.
