Plot summary
Hubby Harold races along the sidewalk to his best friend's wedding, sure that a bachelor's life is the better bargain. Then he collides with Wifey, and marriage follows. Her family comes with her: Winnifred Ward Stokes, a mother-in-law who wants a say in their affairs, her grown son Charley Stokes, who does not work, and the adolescent Bobby Stokes, whose mischief is constant. Hubby wins a live turkey at a raffle and carries it home on a crowded streetcar, to the annoyance of the passengers around him. He also buys the household a new automobile, a Butterfly Six, and the first drive in it is not his alone. A friend tells him he should stand up to his mother-in-law, a step he doubts he has the nerve for.
