Plot summary
Dan Quigley loses his job as a movie theater usher because of his gambling. He looks up Myra Gale to hand back a purse she left behind, and stays for a poker game with Spade Maddock, Duke, Smiley and Pete. He bets everything he has and loses it, and when a second man turns up to return the same purse, Dan sees that the game was staged. He tells the group he will go to the police unless they take him in, and promises them profitable ideas. They follow his plans: a nightclub and casino serve as their cover while they pick out wealthy patrons to rob later.
