Plot summary
Dan Bartlett is a high school student at the Burnham preparatory school for boys, and he plans to spend his school break in the Caribbean with his girlfriend and her family. He misses the plane they leave on, so he travels to the islands on his own to catch up with them. Ganja-smoking islanders give him a lift in their vehicle, but they do not arrive in time, and the family sails off on a chartered yacht. An old sailor with reasons of his own takes Dan aboard his sailboat, and the two of them set out after the yacht.
