Ted White
Biography
Ted White, born Alex Bayouth, was a stunt performer and actor best known for his screen turn as Jason Voorhees in the 1984 Friday the 13th movie The Final Chapter. After playing football at the University of Oklahoma, he entered stunt and acting work. On Sands of Iwo Jima (1949), his Marine Corps background led to a consulting job, and he met John Wayne, for whom he began doubling in 1952. He also doubled for Fess Parker, Clark Gable, and Richard Boone. His minor screen roles, often as police officers or hired thugs, included westerns and television shows such as The Rockford Files, Daniel Boone, and The Andy Griffith Show. He worked on Gone in 60 Seconds, Silverado, Major League, Tron (1982), and Starman (1984). In the 1984 Friday the 13th film he played the hockey-masked killer, asked not to be credited, and was later credited for archive footage in the seventh Friday film.

White did not want his name in the credits for playing Jason, in part because he was unhappy with the way the young actors and actresses were treated during production.
A role that slipped away
Ted White declined the part of Jason in Friday the 13th: A New Beginning and Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives; stuntmen Tom Morga and C. J. Graham ended up playing the role in those films.

White was approached on Sands of Iwo Jima (1949) because of his Marine Corps background, when a consultant was needed for the layout of the island, and that was where he met John Wayne.
