Plot summary
Red Puckett, her Granny, the Big Bad Wolf and the squirrel Twitchy all work for the Happily Ever After Agency. Wolf, Granny and Twitchy try to free Hansel and Gretel from a witch, and the attempt goes wrong when Granny is carried off. Red, meanwhile, is training with the Sisters of the Hood, and she learns that a truffle recipe of great power has been taken. Detective Nicky Flippers, who heads the agency, gives Red, the Wolf and Twitchy the job of finding the recipe and bringing Granny back.

- Hayden Panettiere replaced Anne Hathaway in the role of Red. Cory Edwards said the recast was due to the recent success of Hathaway's career, adding that her involvement in the first film was "a nice favor for Harvey and the last of her "little girl roles"".
- Edwards explained that Belushi was never really comfortable with the accent for the Woodsman: he wanted to help out and loved the film, but kept saying "I'm not an accent guy", so he had a hard time connecting to that character.
- In March 2010 Kanbar Entertainment sued the Weinstein Company for delaying the film's release, for not making contributions to monthly production accounts after February 2009 and for not consulting it about a release strategy, even though Kanbar had final authority on production decisions.
