Hong Kong 1942 (2022) on Netflix

Plot summary

By 1942 the Japanese have taken Hong Kong, and Ling dances at the Pearl Club while also working for the resistance. Her brother Covin is a prisoner of war in a camp where he is dying, and the medicine that could save him is penicillin. Charles passes himself off as a Swedish national and runs a secret operation that carries food and medicine to allied prisoners. An encounter with Norimoto, the commander of the camp, makes the Japanese suspicious of Charles. A mission to Cheung Chau leaves Ling injured, and she and Charles grow closer, while the Kenpeitai investigation puts pressure on their work. Ling is caught between the hope of leaving Hong Kong and the fact that escape would mean abandoning her brother.
