Plot summary
After the death of his wife Heather, the immortal Connor MacLeod leaves Scotland and travels the world. In Japan he trains under Nakano, an immortal sorcerer and an old friend of his late teacher, learning to fight with a katana in a cave on Mount Niri. Kane, an immortal crossing Asia with two henchmen, reaches that cave, and the mountain comes down on him. Centuries later Connor lives in Marrakesh with his adopted son John, believing he has won the Prize. Archaeologist Alex Johnson joins the excavation of Nakano's cave, which frees Kane. Connor realizes the Game is not over and heads back to New York City.

The U.S. theatrical cut was rated PG-13; a longer R-rated "Special Director's Cut" later restored two sex scenes and extra violence, chiefly the shot of Kane's head rolling off, where the PG-13 version had only shown the head wobbling before cutting to Connor saying "There can be only one."- Highlander III: The Sorcerer took $36.7 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing film in the whole franchise and the only one that managed to earn back its budget at the box office.
